From Sorrento, it is easy and fairly inexpensive to travel throughout Italy and across Europe, particularly if you plan and book in advance.

The fastest way is by plane, but you can also opt for the often cheaper and equally simple solution by traveling by train.

TRAVELING BY TRAIN

From Sorrento Circumvesuviana train Station, reach Napoli Centrale – Piazza Garibaldi station (approxiamtely 1:10 in length).

From Naples station you can take:

  1. Trenitalia train: visit Trenitalia website to discover all the destinations in Italy and Europe! You can purchase tickets online or at the train station. Trenitalia offers four types of trains (slowest to fastest):
    • Regionale
    • Intercity
    • Eurostar
    • Freccia Rossa / Freccia Argento
  2. Italo train: visit Italo website to discover all the destinations (Italy only). Italotreno is a new-born company that offers cheaper tickets to Rome, Venice, Milan, Turin, Bologna, Florence and all major Italian cities.
  3. Please note that the Sorrento train station is eqipped with a luggage storage facility.

TRAVELING BY PLANE

The nearest airport to Sorrento is Capodichino in Naples, the main airport in Campania.

From Capodichino, you can fly to all major destinations in Italy, Europe and all over the world.

Low-budget airlines

EasyJet and Ryanair are two low cost companies that fly to major destinations in Europe.

They are very popular among young people, because tickets may be as low as 50€ or less if you book early.

EasyJet flies from Naples Capodichino, while Ryanair from Rome Ciampino.

As prices are very low, you will need to pay attention to hidden costs for extra luggage, overweight luggage, itinerary changes, etc.
